Courses
Hydrogeology, Groundwater Engineering & Management
Developer & Instructor: Ineke Kalwij, Ph.D., P.Eng.
Upcoming Course Offering
- Groundwater introduction for well drillers and pump installers.
We offer the following courses:
- Introduction to Hydrogeology and Groundwater Management (one-day seminar)
- Introduction to Hydrogeology and Groundwater Management – Workshop Style (two days)
- Introduction to Hydrogeology, Pumping Tests, and Groundwater Regulation for well drillers (water supply & geotechnical) and pump installers (one-day course)
- Groundwater Flow Hydraulics, Aquifer Testing & Analysis (Forthcoming)
The courses are designed for (i) engineering, geological, and environmental professionals; (ii) individuals who work with and/or are involved in groundwater-based water systems (water utilities) such as managers, operators / water utility technicians; (iii) individuals involved in construction projects above (vulnerable) aquifers or are working in the wastewater industry; and (iv) individuals working in the groundwater trade (well drillers & pump installers/technicians).
Typically, the courses include theory, case studies, hands-on exercises, and ample time for discussions and questions. A Groundwater Model is used for demonstrating various groundwater concepts: groundwater flow through different types of aquifer formation, interaction / connectivity between surface water and groundwater, and groundwater contamination.
Courses at Location
In British Columbia, we offer some of the courses through Engineers & Geoscientist of BC and the BC Water & Waste Association (BCWWA). We also offer courses ‘at location’ (on demand), for example at a consulting firm or city hall), and we offer the flexibility of customizing topics for the course to align with course participants needs. Professional development hours (PDH) / continuing education units (CEU) can be earned for these courses.
